How We Work

From brief to finished film.

Good productions don't happen by accident. They happen because someone thought things through beforehand. We make our process transparent – so you know what happens when, what we need from you, and why certain steps take time.

No black hole between commissioning and delivery. No "it'll be fine". Just clear communication, reliable timelines and one point of contact from start to finish.

The process

1. Enquiry & brief
We take time for the first conversation – whether you bring a vague idea or a finished concept. The more we understand about your goal, audience and intended use, the more precisely we can advise and quote. Most questions that take agencies weeks of briefing documents to address get answered in a 30-minute call.

2. Concept & quote
No quote without thinking it through first. You always receive a cost estimate together with a rough concept – so you know what you're paying for and we're working towards the same goal. Once the concept is confirmed and the quote accepted, we get started.

3. Pre-production
The invisible part of most productions – and the most important. Storyboard, script, location scouting, crew planning, equipment, permits, voice artists, music: all of this happens before the first camera is set up. This is where it's decided whether a shoot day runs smoothly.

4. Production
The shoot days. What's captured here is the raw material for everything that follows. We work in a structured way, communicate directly on set and stick to the plan – without losing the flexibility to adapt when it matters.

5. Post-production
Editing, colour grading, sound design, animations, music. This is where footage becomes film. You see a first cut and can give feedback – before colour, sound and animations go into the detail stage.

6. Sign-off & delivery
No project leaves LM.Media without your approval. After the picture lock – the final sign-off on the edit – all the finishing touches are applied. You receive finished, ready-to-use files in all required formats and resolutions.

Frequently asked questions

At what stage can LM.Media join a project?

At any stage. We can join right at the beginning with a vague idea and guide the whole process. But we also take on post-production only when the footage already exists, or provide a crew for a single shoot day. The entry point depends on what you need.

How long does a typical production take?

It depends on scope. Simpler projects with one shoot day and a clear brief are finished in 3–5 weeks. More complex productions with concept development, multiple shoot days and extensive post take 6–12 weeks. We give you a realistic timeline upfront – and stick to it.

How much input can I give during the process?

We work with a structured feedback round after the first cut. You see the film at an early stage and can raise changes – before colour, sound and animations go into final detail work. After the picture lock there are no more content changes, which is what guarantees a clean end result.

What do I need for a first conversation?

Not much. A rough idea, a goal and a ballpark budget are enough. The rest – format, length, style, schedule – we figure out together. We're used to developing strong projects even from incomplete briefs.

Do you work with agencies or other production companies?

Yes. We regularly work as a production service provider for advertising and communications agencies that need local expertise or additional capacity in Austria. Whether crew supply, shoot days or complete post – we're experienced on the B2B side and handle it discreetly.
